I’m about to be knee-deep in Christmas preparations, making desserts, baking cookies, wrapping the last few gifts (all for the cat, interestingly enough), and just generally making sure that everything is ready so that it all runs smoothly on Thursday. And since Thursday is also my usual day to post, I figured I’d do it today instead.
Even though I spend every day with my children, there’s still something extra special about the holidays. I’m looking forward to the expressions of joy and excitement when they open gifts, to their moans of contentment when they eat the big Christmas meal, and to seeing them enjoy and play with their new things. I’m looking forward to the rush and all the busy rush, rush, rush finally being over and being able to sit back and just relax with my family. Today is the first time in a full week that I’ve actually had a chance to sit down and relax, and even this moment isn’t going to last long before I have to get going on things again.
I hope that you all have a beautiful, wonderful, magical Christmas with your families. if this is your first year as a single and/or homeschooling parent, remember that any bumps will smooth out as you get more used to things. If it’s not your first year as one or both, feel free to share your tips on how to make the holidays run a little smoother for the newbies who might still be trying to find their way.
I’ll be back next week (again on Tuesday) to talk about my plans for the new year, and find out what you do to get ready for the wide openness of the new year.
In the meantime, enjoy your holiday!
