So last week there was no post because I just completely forgot about it. Don’t ask me how, but somehow it just totally slipped my mind.
This week, I’m late because I’ve been trying to get other things done and this just kept getting shoved down more and more on the to-do list.
Things are finally starting to fall back into a routine around here. There’ve been no major disasters (though there has been a minor catastrophe or two), and we actually seem to be getting back to where we need to be. Things are getting accomplished, and though I wouldn’t say we’re at all close to caught up, it feels like we’re moving in the right direction again.
I’m working on prepping for Thanksgiving and Christmas now, too. There’s so much to do, but now that we seem to be past the weeks of bad days, I feel safe getting started on it all.
We’ll be doing school this week and next, and then the week after is Thanksgiving. We always take off the full week of Thanksgiving, to allow ample time for me to do any baking, shopping, and final prepwork that I need to do before the big day.
Then we’ll start school again for 2-3 weeks before breaking for Christmas. Whether we go for 2 weeks or 3 depends on whether the kids want to buckle down and get their work done or they want to play around and drag their feet. Usually, they want to get done so they can have as long a break as possible.
I’m making tons of lists right now. Foods, menus, lesson plans, books to read, events to attend – if I don’t write all this stuff down, I’ll never remember. I’m even resorting to writing in a specific time and day to write my blog posts, to avoid a repeat of last week!
How are things going for you right now? Feeling overwhelmed or have you got it all under control? Are you planning for the holidays? Looking forward to time off or going to power through?
